Exam photo and signature size: every major Indian exam in one table
Photo and signature size for SSC, IBPS, SBI, NTA, CTET, UPSC, RRB and UP Police in one table, with the KB range, the pixel size and the source of each.
Every one of these exams states its upload rules inside its own notification PDF, in its own wording, and the figures move between cycles. That is why the same question gets a different answer on every website you check. This page puts them side by side so you can see what your exam asks for and how it differs from the others.
Read the row for your exam, then read the warning under it. Several of these figures are disputed between sources, and a few are arithmetically inconsistent with the physical size the notification gives. Where that is true the exam's own page says so plainly, and this table links to it.

Where these numbers come from
Each row is researched across three or more sources and dated. None of them is scraped from a single site, because the single site is often wrong. The exam pages linked above name their sources and state, in full, where those sources disagree with each other.
No figure on this page is official. The official figure lives in the notification you are applying under, and if that notification says something different from this table, the notification wins. If you have it open, you do not need this table at all: paste the upload paragraph into the box on the home page and the numbers are read out of your own text.
The pattern worth noticing
The banking exams move together. IBPS and SBI use the same four uploads at the same four sizes, so a file prepared for one is usually accepted by the other. SSC is quoted inconsistently across its own exams. NTA and CBSE state a physical size and a KB range but no pixel size at all, which means any pixel figure you find for JEE Main or CTET is somebody's conversion rather than a rule.
The one thing almost every exam here shares is a minimum KB as well as a maximum. A clean photograph on a plain background compresses below that floor on its own, which is why a file that looks perfect gets refused. That failure has its own page.
Questions
Which exams use 200 x 230 pixels?
The banking group: IBPS Clerk, IBPS PO, SBI PO and SBI Clerk, and several state police recruitments including UP Police. It is a near-square shape stated directly in pixels, not a conversion from centimetres.
Why do some exams give centimetres and others give pixels?
A notification written for a print-era form states the physical size, and the portal built later checks pixels. Where only centimetres are given, the conversion is cm divided by 2.54 multiplied by the DPI, which at 200 DPI makes 3.5 x 4.5 cm into 276 x 354 pixels.
Is 3.5 x 4.5 cm the same as 200 x 230 pixels?
No. At 200 DPI it is 276 x 354. The two figures describe different shapes, and several SSC sources quote them interchangeably, which is the single most common source of confusion in this table.
Which exams need more than a photo and a signature?
The banking exams. IBPS Clerk, SBI PO and SBI Clerk each want four files: photograph, signature, left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration, each with its own size.
How often is this checked?
Each row carries the date it was last researched. Recruitment bodies change these between cycles, so a row more than a few months old should be confirmed against your own notification before you upload.
