NEET UG photo and signature size

NEET asks for more files than most exams — a photograph, a signature, and scanned impressions of the left-hand fingers, right-hand fingers and thumb. NTA also states there is no correction facility for these afterwards, which makes it worth getting right the first time.

Check your own notification first. One widely-copied source gives the signature as 275 x 118 pixels and, in the same breath, as 2.5 x 3.5 inches — which are not the same thing at any DPI. Treat the pixel figure as the usable one and confirm against the NTA information bulletin.

What resizing will not fix

Read this one before you use any resizer, including ours. NTA warns that morphed, edited, hand-made or computer-generated images are prohibited and treated as unfair means, and that there is no correction window for these files. Resizing and compressing to meet NTA’s own stated size is ordinary and expected. Cleaning or whitening a signature changes how the image looks, so for NEET use a clean scan on white paper and resize it only — do not alter it.

Have the notification in front of you?

Then you do not need the figures above at all. Copy the upload instructions straight out of it and paste them into the box on the home page — it reads the pixel sizes, the KB range and the DPI out of the text and sets the tools to exactly what your notification says. That is always right, even when a published figure has gone stale.

Notes on these figures

  • The 10 to 200 KB window is far wider than most exams allow, so there is room to keep the photo at good quality rather than squeezing it.
  • A 4 KB minimum is easy to fall below with a clean scan, so set the minimum as well as the maximum.
  • If a minimum KB is given, set it too — a clean photograph often compresses below it, and the tool pads the file to reach it without touching the picture.

Reported as 275 x 118 pixels at 4 to 30 KB. The 4 KB floor catches people out, because a clean signature scan often lands below it — set the minimum and the file is padded to reach it without changing the picture.

Is using a resizer allowed for NEET?
