About Convert Image
Format problems are mostly compatibility problems: a site that will not take WEBP, a form that insists on JPG, a logo that needs transparency it currently lacks. This switches between JPG, PNG and WEBP at the original dimensions, so only the encoding changes.
Good to know
- JPG is smallest and universally accepted, but has no transparency and loses a little quality each time it is saved.
- PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, which makes it right for logos, icons and screenshots of text.
- WEBP is roughly 30% smaller than JPG at similar quality and suits websites, though some older software still refuses it.
Questions
Which format for an exam form?
JPG, essentially always. Portals name it explicitly and some reject anything else even when the image itself is fine.
Does PNG to JPG lose quality?
Once, at the moment of conversion, because JPG is lossy. For a photograph the difference is hard to see; for sharp text it is noticeable.
What happens to transparency?
JPG cannot store it, so transparent areas become white. Choose PNG or WEBP instead when transparency matters.
Can I convert several files at once?
Yes. Add them together and they come back as a ZIP.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser using your own device. Your file never leaves it, and we never see or store it. You can even disconnect from the internet and the tool still works.
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no daily limit, no watermark on your files. The site is paid for by ads.
