About Shorten Text
Word and character limits are unforgiving, and cutting your own writing is genuinely hard because every sentence feels necessary. Give a target length and the important points are kept while the rest goes, which is faster than agonising over it yourself.
Good to know
- Set the target a little under the limit, since word counts differ slightly between tools.
- Check that nothing essential was cut, particularly dates, names and amounts.
- For a very tight limit, shorten in stages rather than all at once.
Questions
How accurate is the target length?
It aims for approximately your number. Verify with Word Counter if the limit is strict.
Will it drop something important?
It keeps what appears most important, but that is a judgement. Read the result before submitting.
Can it shorten to a character limit?
Give a word target, then check with Word Counter and run again if needed.
Does it work in Hindi?
Yes, and the result stays in your language.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser using your own device. Your file never leaves it, and we never see or store it. You can even disconnect from the internet and the tool still works.
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no daily limit, no watermark on your files. The site is paid for by ads.
