About Resize Image
Exact pixel dimensions come up constantly: a form wanting 200x230, a profile picture wanting a square, a site wanting a fixed banner. This sets both dimensions precisely, and because the target shape rarely matches the original you choose what happens to the difference. Crop to fill the frame, or fit the whole picture inside and pad the gaps.
Good to know
- Crop to fill covers the frame completely and trims the overflow. Best for faces and product shots.
- Fit inside keeps every part of the picture and pads the sides. Best for logos, diagrams and screenshots.
- Enlarging past the original cannot invent detail. It only makes existing pixels bigger and softer.
Questions
Crop or fit, which should I choose?
Crop when the subject sits in the middle and the edges do not matter. Fit when losing any part of the image would be a problem, such as a document or a logo.
Will resizing reduce the file size?
Usually, since there are fewer pixels to store, but not to a number you control. Use Compress Image when a specific KB limit matters.
Can I change only the width?
Set the width you need and a height matching the original proportions, then use fit so nothing is trimmed.
Does it stay sharp?
Reducing size stays sharp. Enlarging softens, because the extra pixels are interpolated from those already there.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser using your own device. Your file never leaves it, and we never see or store it. You can even disconnect from the internet and the tool still works.
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no daily limit, no watermark on your files. The site is paid for by ads.
