UP Police photo and signature size

UP Police uses a wider signature box than the banking exams — 200 x 80 rather than 140 x 60 — and a photograph ceiling that has moved between cycles. Using a figure copied from an SSC or IBPS guide is the usual way this upload goes wrong.

Check your own notification first. UP Police is quoted less consistently than the national exams. The photograph appears as 20 to 100 KB in most places and 20 to 50 KB in others; the signature appears as 200 x 80 pixels at 5 to 20 KB, but 140 x 60 is also in circulation. UPPRPB publishes the numbers inside each advertisement and they have changed between cycles, so the advertisement you applied under is the only figure worth trusting.

What resizing will not fix

UP Police recruitment runs through a One Time Registration, and the photograph you upload there is the one carried into later stages including physical testing. A photograph that is valid as a file but does not look like you causes a problem at that point rather than at upload.

Already tried, and it was refused?

A portal almost never says which rule you broke. Drop the file you tried to upload into the rejection checker and it reports on each rule separately — format, pixel size, the maximum, the minimum and the DPI — so you fix the one that is actually wrong instead of guessing. It reads the file and changes nothing.

Have the notification in front of you?

Then you do not need the figures above at all. Copy the upload instructions straight out of it and paste them into the box on the home page — it reads the pixel sizes, the KB range and the DPI out of the text and sets the tools to exactly what your notification says. That is always right, even when a published figure has gone stale.

Notes on these figures

  • Plain white background. Some cycles cap the photograph at 50 KB rather than 100.
  • Quoted as 200 x 80 for UP Police specifically, which is wider than the 140 x 60 used by banking exams.
  • If a minimum KB is given, set it too — a clean photograph often compresses below it, and the tool pads the file to reach it without touching the picture.
