WEBP to PNG Free
Convert WEBP pictures to PNG at their original size. PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, so the file is larger than the same picture as JPG.
How to use it
- Choose one or more images, or drag them in.
- Set the options on the right. The result updates as you change them.
- Check the result, then press Download.
About WEBP to PNG
When you need a WEBP to work in software that does not recognise it, and the image has a transparent background you cannot afford to lose, PNG is the destination rather than JPG. It is the lossless route: bigger files, but transparency intact and no further quality loss.
Good to know
- Choose PNG over JPG here specifically because JPG would turn transparency white.
- The PNG will be noticeably larger. Lossless storage costs bytes.
- The right choice for logos, icons and anything with a cut-out background.
Questions
PNG or JPG for my WEBP?
PNG if the image has transparency or sharp text. JPG if it is a photograph and file size matters more.
Does converting lose anything?
No further loss occurs, because PNG is lossless. Any damage already done by WEBP compression stays as it is.
Why is the PNG several times larger?
It stores every pixel exactly, while WEBP approximates. That is the trade you are making.
Will it open in old software now?
PNG has been universally supported for decades, so essentially anything will open it.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser using your own device. Your file never leaves it, and we never see or store it. You can even disconnect from the internet and the tool still works.
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no daily limit, no watermark on your files. The site is paid for by ads.
