About WEBP to JPG
WEBP images saved from websites are a common frustration: the file is on your computer but the form will not accept it, the printer will not open it, and your older photo software has never heard of it. Converting to JPG makes the picture work everywhere, at the price of one more compression pass.
Good to know
- JPG is the most universally accepted image format there is. Nothing refuses it.
- Any transparency in the WEBP becomes white, as JPG cannot store it.
- Almost every exam form and government portal expects JPG specifically.
Questions
Why will nothing open my WEBP?
It is a newer web format. Browsers handle it, but many desktop programs, printers and upload forms do not.
Does converting lose quality?
A little, since one lossy format is re-encoded into another. At normal quality it is hard to see on a photograph.
Is the JPG bigger or smaller?
Usually slightly bigger, because WEBP compresses more efficiently than JPG for the same appearance.
Will this fix my form upload?
If the form wanted JPG, yes. Check the pixel and KB rules as well, since forms usually set all three.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser using your own device. Your file never leaves it, and we never see or store it. You can even disconnect from the internet and the tool still works.
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no daily limit, no watermark on your files. The site is paid for by ads.
