About Split Image into Grid
Splitting one picture into equal tiles is how an Instagram carousel becomes a single wide panorama, and how a large diagram gets printed across several sheets. Choose the grid and every tile comes back numbered, so reassembling them in order is straightforward.
Good to know
- Tiles are delivered as a ZIP, numbered in reading order: left to right, then top to bottom.
- For a carousel, upload the tiles in that same numbered order or the panorama will be scrambled.
- If the dimensions do not divide evenly by your grid, edge tiles can differ by a pixel or two.
Questions
What grid should I use for Instagram?
One row of three is the common panorama layout. A 3x3 grid gives the classic nine-square feed.
How are the tiles named?
Sequentially, so sorting by filename gives you the correct order.
Does splitting lose quality?
Each tile is cut from the original, so no detail is lost beyond one re-encode when saving.
Can I split into unequal pieces?
No. The grid produces equal tiles. Use Crop Image for an arbitrary region.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser using your own device. Your file never leaves it, and we never see or store it. You can even disconnect from the internet and the tool still works.
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no daily limit, no watermark on your files. The site is paid for by ads.
