About Rotate & Flip Image
A photo that looked upright on your phone often arrives sideways everywhere else, because the camera stored the orientation as a tag rather than rotating the pixels. This turns the image itself in quarter steps, and mirrors it if needed, so it appears the same way in every program.
Good to know
- Rotation in quarter turns is lossless. Pixels move; none are recalculated.
- Mirroring is for selfies that came out reversed, and for scans fed in the wrong way round.
- If a photo looks right on your phone but sideways after upload, rotating here fixes it permanently.
Questions
Why did my photo rotate itself after uploading?
The file carried an orientation tag that your phone honoured and the website did not. Rotating here writes the correct orientation into the pixels themselves.
Can I rotate by a small angle to straighten a scan?
No, only quarter turns. Small-angle straightening would have to resample and crop the image.
Does rotating reduce quality?
Not for quarter turns. Saving as JPG re-encodes once, so choose PNG if you want no loss at all.
What is the difference between rotate and flip?
Rotation turns the picture; flipping mirrors it. A flipped photo shows text backwards, a rotated one does not.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser using your own device. Your file never leaves it, and we never see or store it. You can even disconnect from the internet and the tool still works.
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no daily limit, no watermark on your files. The site is paid for by ads.
