GIF to JPG Free
Convert GIF pictures to JPG at their original size. JPG files are far smaller, which is what upload forms want. Transparency becomes white.
How to use it
- Choose one or more images, or drag them in.
- Set the options on the right. The result updates as you change them.
- Check the result, then press Download.
About GIF to JPG
A GIF can hold at most 256 colours, which is why photographs saved as GIF look banded and blotchy. Converting to JPG lifts that ceiling to millions of colours and usually produces a much smaller file too, though an animated GIF loses everything except its first frame.
Good to know
- Animation does not survive. You get a single still frame, not a moving image.
- The 256-colour banding already in the GIF is carried over; JPG cannot restore colours that were discarded.
- For a photograph wrongly saved as GIF, this is usually both smaller and better looking.
Questions
What happens to an animated GIF?
Only the first frame is converted. JPG has no concept of animation.
Will the banding go away?
No. Those colours were thrown away when the GIF was made and cannot be recovered.
What about a transparent GIF?
Transparent areas become white, because JPG cannot store transparency. Convert to PNG instead if that matters.
Is the JPG smaller?
For photographic content, usually much smaller. For a flat graphic with few colours, GIF can actually be more efficient.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser using your own device. Your file never leaves it, and we never see or store it. You can even disconnect from the internet and the tool still works.
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no daily limit, no watermark on your files. The site is paid for by ads.
